SERT # info?

Post by PwrWgnWalt »

Does anyone happen to know what these SERT #'s mean?
(from a 1968 D200 Crew Cab, power brakes, 318, 4 speed. It has no bed currently, apparently was a Forest Service truck at some point)

SERT NO. EQUIP.
06463 RA S.P.I.C. (had to put in the periods, apparently it's a "bad word" and only shows up as characters $/?*) :shame
17351 INC COOLI
07501 SHOCK ABS
44550 REFL A4

I think I know what the middle two refer to (bigger radiator, and heavy duty shocks),
and maybe the first one (look's like it has a Dana/Spicer 60 -or 70- with 4.88's and a Limited Slip, by the axle tags),
but have no idea on the last one.

The VIN tag also reads "SPEC" on the second line; for Rear Axle Cap., Rear Axle, Make, and Model.

Thanks!

Rear Axle Spicer is I think the first one.

Is there any thing "reflective" on the truck? Is the last one REFL?

Good catch, Bucky! I didn't see it, but it is definitely an "L", so yes, "REFL"!

It has a metal flatbed now, so maybe it had something else from the factory if it was only a cab & chassis?
It does have the std round Amber reflectors on the front fender, like other '68 & '69 trucks (no bezel).

Thanks!

So at a glance, the rear axle appears to be a 'normal' Dana 60. Not that it always was, but that's how it appears now.

What is the SERT code, and the VIN tag, calling out?
Is there something I'm not seeing? (truck not here)

Many times it is something small. Perhaps the 4.88 with a limited slip was not an available item for this truck but was specified anyway.
