heat riser

Post by rd200 »

This might sound like a dumb question. I have a 65 D-100 with a 318 Poly. The heat riser will only move if I move it by hand. what position should it be in. I can pull it up toward the fire wall or it will go all the way down. I want it to stay open all of the time as I live in a warm weather area.

If the heat control spring is missing then you should remove it or fix it. The valve flapper should be open to allow the exhaust to pass through unhindered.

What position is open with the heat riser. Is the riser all the way up to open or down?

Hopefully this helps:

I just replaced my passenger's side manifold that had the valve, with a driver's side non-valved manifold. 1969 W100 w/383
