'65 D 100 Sweptline - Transmission

It looks like I'm finally going to have the engine rebuilt. They tell me when the engine is out, I might as well get the transmission rebuilt (it sometimes slips out of 2nd - 3 speed on the column - 318 poly).

Here is my question? In an attempt to save money I have a buddy who has offered to rebuild the transmission for me, (only charging cost of parts). He has done this before with his vehicles and seems to be a pretty good mechanic. Where can I get the following types of manuals/books for my truck:

1: transmission;
2: electrical system;
3: engine;
4: chassis?

Perhaps something that might cover all of these topics, like a Bentleys.

i got my service manual off ebay. did a search for dodge manuals and got quite a few hits. if you get a factory service manual, it will cover all your systems in nice detail, stay away from chiltons, they just aint detailed enough.

Got to agree with Trey, Dodge Truck Service Manules are the way to go......

If you got the engine out now the trany should also be out, if not, then best way to pull the engine is to drop the trans and pull with the bell still on the engine, any other way you try it will be a pain.......pull the bell off after the engine is out.
Done this many times over the years and it really works the best that way.... install it the same way with bell on the engine.
