just a thought, why paint it flat black if you just intend to wax it and make it shiney?? wouldnt it then be gloss black??

If I had to guess, Robin and I arrived at the shiny primer in much the same way.. sanding. I wet sanded mine after applying with 1000 grit just to see how much of a shine you could get out of Krylon primer... but it would be much simpler with gloss paint, just an even looking coverage is a little more difficult to obtain when using spray can gloss. If you're painting with the intent of it being the final coat and want it shiny, definately use gloss... i was playing around with styling schemes.
Thanks, Clint

hey dave, if you want a good rattle can gloss black, but that appliance epoxy. made by rustoleum, i use it at work all the time. very forgiving, has a nice fan spray tip instead of the round spray like krylon, its self leveling so it doesnt orange peel, and its twice a tough as regular paint. just takes a bit longer to cure, so check your weather before spraying.

shiny primer

Post by MountainMoparRobin »

Cowboy,
I didn't use can primer, I mixed it and sprayed in on, the shinie part came from just like Clint said, Wet sanding with at least the 1000 grit, I was doing body dings and sanding with 1500 grit, if you want the primer look, don't forget to seal it, so it won't rust, actually the best thing would be to primer then spray with a paint gun, clear coat, it would then last as long as a paint.
