If the hood is original to the truck, you could
narrow it down to a '69-'71. Does it have a VIN
tag still?

the hood is original, and i was pretty sure it was either a 69 or a 71. even if the truck has the tag on it, i wouldnt be able to look for it. the trucks currently in another state. ill have it in my ownership by the end of may.

If the fenders are original and have the holes for
mounting the side marker lights, you can then narrow
it down to a '70 or '71.

Check for frame number, near front pass side
spring shackle on wheel side, should be the same as vin number. It will be stamped on frame.

If the really dark spot on the front fender is what I think it is, you havea 69-71. Straight hood is 69-71. Fender holes are 70-71 for marker lights. 69 had reflectors with a small screw hole. Unfortunately, for dating the truck, the parts don't help much. The front clips are interchangeable. My 69 has a 68 or earlier front fender according to the emblem holes, AND marker lights (which I added, my reflectors were broken). Except for the grille, mine passes for a 70-71. The only real way to tell is to wait until you take possession and check the VIN, don't assume the title is correct. These trucks quite often are put together from up to 6 or more donor rigs. Tinworms (rust) seem to thrive in Sweptlines... But they are still worth the aggravation.
