door hinges

Post by davie »

OK, so I got a hinge pin kit from Vintage PW and when I went to rebuild my hinges, I noticed that the new pins were about 1/2" longer and a bit thicker. I thought no problem, I enlarged the bracket part of the hinge for the new brass bushings and began to press in the new pin. It was WAY to tight for thr arm portion and I buggered up the whole mess. I guess I should have drilled out the arm portion of the hinge but I thought that without fabbing some sort of jig to hold it, it may go off course. So now I need a new/used hinge assembly that is tight, or weld up the old bracket and start over but if I am off at all, I will have a binding hinge. Anyone have a good hinge or idea?
Thanks
