For the tank sending unit, you'll need to remove the fuel line first.
Next, pull the sending unit wire straight upward and off the threaded post.
Take a screw driver and put it on one of the seal ring lugs and tap
lightly with a hammer counter clockwise until the ring comes loose.
Now you can pull the sending unit out of the tank. It takes a twist
or two to work the pick up tube and the float out. You can remove
the float and check to see if it sprung a leak and filled up with gas.
If so, you'll need to replace it or, if you're good with solder, repair it
if you need to use that same float on your replacement sending unit.
Reverse the process above to install the replacement sending unit.
Make sure that flat rubber gasket is in good enough shape to re-use.
If not, you might begin to smell fuel in the cab. :pale

Just FYI... The sending unit float for the gas tank is the exact SAME ONE for a Mustang - Ford part#COAZ-9202-B check them out on Ebay. I just put one of these FORD ones in my 69 Roadrunner.
