more heater core help....

Post by wideblock »

didnt want to highjack the post already made, but i find myself in need of a new heater core as well for my 70 d100. i have found the core at a few places but what i need to know, before i go and break something or do twice the work needed... how do you get it out of a factory a/c truck?? this box looks nothing like anything i have delt with in the past, and i dont want to mess it up. whats the best way to do this with the minimum amount of dissassembly?? truck is a 70 d100 with factory in dash a/c system.

I don't think that it will be too hard. when I got my 71 last year, the heater box and blower were crammed full of leaves. Removing the blower motor box gave me decent access to the heater core to clean it out. Start there and good luck. Erik

You may have already got this taken care off, but I have several pictures from when I refurbed the box for my crew cab.

The box has to come out, so that means breaking open the AC system and all the vacuum lines.
It might be possible to do in place if you opted to remove the dash instead, which was a lot easier
than I figured. Assuming you can get all the little screws along the glass out!

Can you give me a heads up on where to find a heater core for factory a/c,
Thanks,
