I will be changing the 69 D100 to electronic ignition
since I have never done this before, will I need a new coil,and a new distributor? also will I need to change the voltage regulator as well?
The last vehicle I had with points before the 69 D100 was in 1974, and I never changed any of the junks I drove then over to electronic ignition.My first vehicle with electronic ignition was my 75 Dodge Coronet that I bought new and haven't had anything with points since then. I changed my '61D200 [Poly] to electronic ignition.
I went with the MoPar Performance set up. You don't
have to switch your V/R. The MP kit gives you the
distributor, orange box[ECU], ballast resistor and
wire loop. The swap took me about 2 hours. You might
want to get a higher output coil although you don't
have to. You should increase your plug gap to .040".
I haven't done this yet and I know that the engine
will behave a bit better after I re-gap the plugs.
I am going to get a better coil this spring too.
Another upgrade I'm doing is a set of good 8mm wires.

By the way.... aside from the Accel Super Coil...who
makes a decent hot coil? I'd like one that's the
same size as the factory model so I can keep it on
the intake manifold.... any suggestions?

Good coils...
Pertronix Flamethrower 2. Jacobs. MSD. Holley. Mercury Marine.
There are others too, but these are easy to find. FYI, a stock electronic ignition coil will work as good as an aftermarket coil, will look stock, and is cheaper than any of the above. Points coils are pretty weak on an EI setup. Stock EI coil puts out 2-3 times the points coil voltage.

OK, Hobcobble, I have a dumb question on that. Is there a "stock" EI for the Poly's? I want to do something with mine, but I don't want to spend a fortune on it. I get 10 -11 MPG out of it no matter if it's on the street or highway and people complain riding behind me will give you a headache from the fumes. I'm taking her to a "real" mechanic this week for a good tune up. I'm hoping that this fixes the problem. She doesn't run as good as I want and I've done everything I know how to do, (points, wires, ect.) I'm just lost when it comes to the carb.

The same distributer that fits the LA engines will fit
the poly engine. That is ether a points or elct. ing.
So any mopar kit will work, or scavage parts at the wrecking yard, or a Pertronix kit, or combine new parts
and rebuilt parts from the parts store.......
