Welcome!

What year?

Not sure about the earlier trucks, but the 69-71 trucks had a plate the speaker screwed to.
Then the plate bolted to the dash with 2 bolts hidden under the defrost vents.

Here is the plate loose, and how I modified one to hold a pair of new 4" speakers.

I have 3 '68's 1 '64 and 1 '65 If the truck had a speaker they are all installed like the following picture.

ALL OF THEM.

Even the one where the speaker is missing you can see the washer scuff marks.

My 68 didn't have a factory speaker in it when I got it... In fact, it was a FORD speaker. BUT, I do remember it had two holes in the dash for speaker screws. They were at the ends, not in a square. So, I always "assumed" it was for a 6X9 speaker, not a round one like your "screws" show. Seems... cheap if you ask me.

My 67 original Mopar speaker was a 5 x 7 with (4) 4-3/8" center to center mounting holes and mounted thru top of dash per Scott's pictures. Purchased an 8 ohm impedance 5 x 7 oval replacement speaker from S M Electro-Tech. It was a perfect fit.

Every early speaker dash has had the screws through the grille like Scott's pictures.

My non radio dash has no mounting studs of any kind to mount a speaker.

Would any one have the bolt pattern dimensions, of the speaker itself, for the speaker depicted in the first photo of nfury8's post (post #3)?
