Try this link that goes back to Kris W old Sweptline site. There is a VIN decoder there. You will need to download the "applet" Thing. OR, maybe someone here already has a version that can do it for you.

Post by Bill »

Thanks for the info on the ID.
Now more help is needed, I have a 355 rear end that I want to use in the 53 B4B.
The problem is, loose bearing in the axle housing
is there a fix for this ?
Thanks ................Bill

Do you mean "end play"? This can be adjusted on the right side of the rear axle by turning an adjusting collar. OR, do you mean an actual loose bearing? The bearings on an 8 3/4 are pressed onto the axle itself. I am sure that others... (JeffC) on this forum can clarify this better than me. :salut

Loose bearing

Post by Bill »

Hi, I am talking about the outer race being loose in the housing, the housing at the backing place is worn.
Looks like the outer race was turning in the housing.
