Wondering the same thing about a '68 Sweptline D100 w/a 440. I could handle a less bouncy ride.

Rancho 5000s seem to be pretty popular around here.

That is what I put on my Crew. They seem OK. I had a hard time
finding anything else with decent lengths. But with the heavy springs,
I question how much they are doing. The ones I took off were just along
for the ride, but I didn't feel like the shocks were a problem at the time.
The 8 leaf rears don't bounce much!

Same shock front and rear? I thought about the the Ranchos. I had them on a '99 Ram 4X4 and they really firmed up the sloppy ride it had.

I put Rancho RS5000's on my '68 W200. If you're not looking to
spend a bunch.... Rancho, SkyJacker, Heckenthorn & Gabriel
all make a decent shock. :2cents

From what I can uncover, it looks like the fronts and rears are different. The fronts have a longer travel. It also looks like the RS5000 from Rancho is made by Monro. It may be made by Monro but it looks to me to be a different shock from anything I can find that Monro sells under their own brand.

Butttttt, Summit Racing shows a manufacturers coupon for the Ranchos. When you buy two, you get a rebate for 1/2 off the 2nd shock. They also have the best price I've seen on the Ranchos.

PN for the front Rancho is RS5114
PN for the rear Rancho is RS5116

Monroe is the parent company I believe.

The driver side front shock that I pulled off would collapse with very little pressure. The other three were in bad shape.

Here's the new Ranchos. I like them.

I don't like that they paint the rubber bushing inserts. Makes them look bad with the cracking paint.

Why Ranchos? Maybe I don't know enough about them, but arent they for off road? I replaced mine with stock replacements (the premium option, not the cheepies) and they made a HUGE difference! My truck came with the camper special package so it had load adjusters on the rear. I replaced with load adjusters and as i said, they work great. I've hauled 1ton of topsoil in a 1/2 ton truck. :dance

By the way, putting on load adjusting shocks without the proper tools was a pain in the BUTT!!! :banghead

Rancho makes several different models of shocks. I had a '99 Ram that would bounce down the highway (if you hit a bump going around a corner the back end would kick out, it was terrible). I ordered the truck myself and got it with 8 miles on the clock and it was like that from day 1. I put this same kind of shock on that truck and it was soooo much better. This is just the basic RS5000 which I've been told is just a fancy Monroe shock (Monroe owns Rancho).

The truck does ride quite a bit better. I have a slightly tweaked front right rim and if I had new rims it would just glide down the interstate (hardly noticeable as it is now). The solid front axle with those leaf springs will never be great but this is much better than it was. One of the old shocks I took off would collapse with no effort whatsoever.

Necro thread but I wouldn't mind trying QA1. These seem like they'd work: TN901 or TS901

I bought Bilsteins for my 66 PW. They replaced the Ranchos that were on there. They were garbage. Didn't look back. Much better. Just do some measurements and you should find some that work.
