Has anyone ever converted a longbed to shortbed? whats involved?

to make it clear , you would have to cut the frame in the middle to keep wheel wells lined up , about two feet on each side ,just the different between the length of thetwo trucks A big rig frame shop (18wheeler) can fish plate it together as they do the big rigs all the time , I don't have them here right now lwb should be 128 wb can't think on the swb off hand , some one here know's that

I have never done a Dodge, but I've done about 6 bowties. Here's the thing. If you do the welding yourself, go in and make it arrow shaped (come to a point on the flat wide side). When you get the extra length cut out, weld the 2 sides back together (go about 1/8" longer than you need as the welding seems to shrink up the length a little), then add a piece if flat 3/16" steel to the INSIDE of where you welded. Grind off the top, bottom, and outside edges, and throw some paint on, and WAHLAH! You'll hardly be able to tell. I use compression fittings on the brake line to shorten it up, and you will want to take your driveshaft to a specialist to have it shortened and balanced correctly. This is the only costly part (It's about $125.00 around here).
