I wondered if any of the members took their old non working radios and made them work again.

This is a YouTube video of a 1966 Dodge truck radio conversion. I think I'll get it done to my new radio.
Enjoy

Re: Original AM radio conversion to AM/FM Bluetooth ipod
I actually think that I'll send them mine.
I had Wards Classic do mine a while back for about $200 or so? but I didn't do the FM conversion. It still only uses the single speaker which I split off (but that's obviously not the best way)
I asked them about FM conversion for this winter but they told me that they can't fit it into our small radios anymore. I believe they did for Ben though....

Re: Original AM radio conversion to AM/FM Bluetooth ipod
I just called him. Very nice and experienced.
It is a flat rate for the FM stereo conversion for $385 + shipping (he is in Tennessee)
I asked a few questions about filling out the form:
Circle conversion type
Conversion LED's (stereo) this is the color that the light turns when you hit a stereo station - Back light is the background single bulb - no charge to LED if you want it
Overall it sounds good and I'll probably yank my radio in early winter
If you want to see all of his conversions on Youtube, search = richard blankenship

Re: Original AM radio conversion to AM/FM Bluetooth ipod
Another place to check out is http://www.SouthTexasAntiqueElectronics.com. I had my radio from my 66 CSS converted to AM-FM/iPod. They offer several different conversions in addition to a basic AM repair. I opted for the basic FM conversion using my existing speaker. I just wanted to listen to FM but he offers upgrades that change out the amplifier for more power and more speakers. I liked the fact that he gave me several options. Very satisfied with the end product and quick service. Ask for Rene at 361 739 4181
Enjoy

It appears most of these places use the same FMR-1 am/fm tuner board for the upgrades.

Re: Original AM radio conversion to AM/FM Bluetooth ipod
I bought 2 boards from Aurora a while back for development and so far they work really well in the early Sweptline radios. The boards are very compact and are truly a work of art! On these boards you can hang amps off them or run directly. The bluetooth is a great new feature as well. From Aurora you have to find a dealer to buy from. I should be releasing the Sweptline radios in the spring. I have a new baby so that project was put on the back burner for a while.
