Hello,
I am looking for some tires for my 1970 D400. It has 7.50x20 on it now. I woul like to go with 9.00x20 to get my rpms down a little bit at crusing speed. The old tire are old bias-ply tires. I hav found some 9.00r20's used. Can these be used on my split ring rims? Can I run tubeless with the split ring wheels? Its just an old farm truck and doesn't get many miles on it. I jut want to get the old dry rotted small tires off it!
Thanks!

Re: D400 tire size
You must run a tube in a split ring wheel.

9.00s will likely rub against each other on the dual rears. That is where the limitation will be.

If you have dayton hubs you can find 22.5 rims and they will fit right on. Then you'll have your tubeless set up. But like Terry said, bigger tires might rub together or rub the pitman arm when you turn.

Re: D400 tire size
My D500 has 8 .25. 20 on the rear and had them on the front. Was at a scrapper one day and a Ford came in with new 9 00 20 tires on the front . Bought the tires and rims for $100. Bolted right on. They work fine for steering. As for the rears I know that a wider tire would work as their is a fairly wide space on rear. My 500 (6 bolt)does have different rims than a 400 (5 bolt , am I correct) series.
