White hat special

So I am considering painting the roof on my 65 power wagon.
It’s a red truck, the wagon wheels are white and the bumpers are flat black.
Questions are, do I go with black on the roof or white. Did dodge ever paint roofs white or black when the truck had small back window, and if so how much of it gets painted?

I'm not sure about the small back windows.... but the color of the roof is really up to you. I've read that the color of the roof on a '68 could be either white or black, and it didn't have to "match" the side trim color either. White and red look nice together... but then again, so does black and red. Hmmm.... that's a dilemma for sure :thinking Either one will look nice. :salut

If you are going to paint the roof, do replace the caulking. Blast the gutters and epoxy prime. Sikaflex 1A works well. I like white because the cab gets so hot in the sun.

Enjoy!

Look at my profile pic to give you an idea of red with white roof. Just so you know the white on my roof is a (Cough) Ford white. I didn't like the original white.

That is a really good looking truck!
I forgot to mention my truck does not have any trim on the sides.
Not sure what I will choose for the shade of white if I go with white. I’m unsure what shade the wheels are as we painted them with leftover paint from a friends body shop but I think it should match the wheels.

I think Red with a White roof will still look good without trim. If you have the drip edge chrome that would dress it up a bit.

I’m trying to stay away from the trim idea as the truck was born without it.
I’m just trying to give the look a little bit more pop.
That trim isn’t cheap either.
If I was to go the trim route it would be the 62 style that ends at the tip of the swept part.

What yr is your truck? Early long beds are shorter than later long beds and that stainless trim would be too short for a later truck. Short beds are about the same.

Mine is a late year 65. I knew the wheelbase was shorter on the earlier trucks but I thought the bed length was the same. And, yes mine is a long bed.
I would measure and compare but we sold the early 65 years ago.
