Changing the front end.

Post by JTD »

Hello,

I have a chance to get a front end off of an old school bus.

Looking at pictures, I think it is a 1964. A 600.

I own a 1967. I like the look of the 4 headlight trucks better.

How much trouble is it to change the front grill and core support?

Is the headlight panel the same as the smaller trucks just has the filler panel at the bottom?

Thanks,

Jon

if all your changing is the core support then that will swap just fine.

Thanks for the replies.

What is the likely engine in a school bus? If it is even still there.

Thanks,

Jon

Yes, but won't be a 383 in a 4 light bus. 400 and 413 are also in front.

If it's a 1964 S600 school bus with V8 then most likely it's a POLY 318 or 361 big block.

383 nor 426 weren't put into medium duty trucks to my knowledge. 413 could have been an option but usually they went into the D800 trucks. 400 didn't exist until 1972.

Well, the engine discussion was a moot point, the engine and transmission were gone.
I didn't bring it home, but am on the list to maybe get a call back.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Jon
