63 D200 Bed question

Post by rdrc »

I am currently looking to purchase a 1963 D200 and came across one that has a bed I do not recognize from other 63 step side photos. I was hoping someone here could give me more details about this bed style? It looks like it has a smaller wheel well than most 63 photos I've seen.

Someone has seriously modified an original bed. The stake pocket is gone above the fender and that fender was never used on a sweptline bed like that. It looks a lot like a 9' dually bed that was cut down, the dually fender extension removed and the step shortened. If so, that's a huge shame as the 9' dually bed is hard to find and sells north of $2k.

I think it's a civilian FFPW bed from the late 50's/60's.

That was my take but I wasn't sure enough to say so.
