When you say blue, do you mean blue or turquoise?

The 1969 model year was the last for turquoise, blue started with the 1970 model year.

Generally speaking, the 383 would have been Chrysler Industrial Red through 1967-1968 and then blue through 1969-1971.

Does the blue fade over time? This truck I just acquired has a 69 383 that appears to have come out of a truck and the only evidence of paint on it looks to me like turquoise. Maybe it is faded blue?
Is there a way to know for sure that it was originally in a truck?

The engine has been changed as the original engine came with the truck also. He said it had a rod knock, which is why thy changed it.
The truck was a 67 or 68 short bed 4x4 big block, the engine in it 69, and the cab was 70 from a /6 truck.

When I have a moment..... I'll look at a couple post '68 383's I have. I wouldn't completely rule out Chrysler Turquoise in '69..... :Thumbsup

While you are looking what does an original air cleaner look like for a 383 truck?

The 383 in my 68 D200 is the original unrestored engine with most of it’s original orange paint still present. I haven’t attempted to match it yet, but it looks more like it might be the same or close to the later Hemi Orange used on some or all of the late 60s high performance engines, as opposed to the earlier orange colour used on the super stock 413 and race Hemi.

My last '68 truck had a 383, also in Hemi Orange.

Thanks for all the replies,
I was wanting to go with turquoise, but decided on hemi orange. Nobody near here stocks the turquoise and I got a deal on the orange. I’m hoping to have the engine in the truck before winter. I have everything I need now except the time.
