I’m going to sandblast and paint the rear bumper on my 1970 1/2 ton. My truck has the silvery grey checker plate top style bumper.
What colour are you guys repainting this style of bumper? I’m thinking an aluminum colour would be too metallic, but a grey would be too flat.
Any suggestions on a colour that will be close to the factory colour?

Re: Bumper paint colour
Those step bumpers are aftermarket, not factory. They are galvanized steel, so paint is not an original finish.

Re: Bumper paint colour
Thanks gents. I did read somewhere that the heavy duty style bumpers were an available factory option starting in 1970, but I’m not sure if that is correct.

Re: Bumper paint colour
There was a factory step type bumper in the later Sweptline era years.
