Dart Bucket Seats

Post by 67step100 »

So I am contemplating replacing my bench seat with a pair or Dodge Dart bucket seats, as were found in the CSS version. Obviously will need to find the seats first but was wondering about how they were bolted to the cab floor. Was the seat frame bolted directly to the floor or were they bolted to seats rails which were bolted to the cab floor? Any reinforcing? Does anyone with a CSS or CSS conversion have pictures of how their seats are secured?

I am also assuming that any seats I find will need to be reupholstered and new padding installed. Has anyone done this and any recommendations on a supplier of either (covers and padding) or both? The console is another matter but I'll concentrate on the seats for the moment. Thanks for any assistance.

Find a pile of cash before you try to find the seats. A rotted/ragged set will usually be upwards of $500 and re-covering about a grand, based on reports of guys here that have done it. I've had and sold 2 CSS trucks and another 3 sets of seats. The frame of the seat sits on the floor with 4 bolts thru it. Under the cab there were 2 pieces of channel iron crosswise front and back that the bolts also went thru.

Thanks. Would you happen to know the size/thickness of channel iron? And the size of bolts? I assume 4 bolts per seat?

Terry is correct about the costs on the bucket seats to find and restore. '63-'65 Dart/Barracuda will work. Finding them with good complete brackets, not easy. The harder task is finding a '62-'63 Polara/Sports Fury console.( Truly the Holy Grail :pale ). Sold a set a few years ago to a guy in Canada too cheap, should have keep them for my retirement fund.

Here's mine done by Rick's custom upholstery. https://ricksupholstery.com/ He is known for chevy but, has the dodge pattern and frame. The console is custom but, I also have a stock one in same marine vinyl. Craig Edit...this is like the adventurer 70/71.

Looks great. How did you secure the seats to the cab floor?

Those are Adventurer seats, NOT the Dart seats you were asking about. They are secured to a framework that sits in the standard seat brackets.

What years Dart seats would have been used in the CSS? Same year as the regular pickup, '64 to '67?

Pretty sure '64-'66 CSS used '64 Dart buckets( '63-'65 Dart seats are the same frame/foam, just different covers). '67 CSS used '67 Dart seats(they are not the frame/foam as early seats). :Thumbsup

So I may have a line on a pair of '65 Dart seats.

I assume these will be OK but wanted to get a picture or maybe a schematic showing how the seats are secured to the cab. Can someone that has the Dart seats installed post a picture of what and how they are secured to the cab floor? Thanks.
