Couple Questions, '67 D100

Post by 67step100 »

Does anyone recognise this rear view mirror? I know it is not correct for a '67 based on pictures I have seen but maybe something else. Or just made up by a PO.

Did the doors ever have door stops/straps? Or anything to that effect. Not seeing anything missing so assume for the moment that would be no?

Should I be able to adjust the tilt of the back rest for the seat? I'm not seeing anything but maybe I'm not looking for the right thing. I see a bolt in the back corner but it doesn't look adjustable.

Finally, I assume the coolant can be replaced with the old green stuff? It's green now.

Thanks all for your assistance.

I've never seen a rear view mirror like that one. Looks to be a previous
owner's add on.... possibly home made? :thinking

No door stops or straps. :salut

No real tilt adjustment for the seat back. :salut

Yes on the traditional green coolant. :Thumbsup

As to the mirror, I'm contemplating using one of the new-fangled mirror dash cameras. Has anyone here tried one?

Thanks. I suspected as much for the mirror.

One last question. Where were the heater box hoses originally located? I've seen pictures of them secured to the side of the fender as well as the side of the valve cover. What is actually correct? Thanks.

I've seen hoses strapped to valve cover brackets, inner fender clamp and
a strap bracket that bolts to the intake manifold. I'm not sure which type
was associated with which year in particular. :thinking

I'd not be surprised if the choice to put it on the inside of the fender well was up to manufacturing, then decided based upon if there was a clip for such a strap on the valve cover, which would then depend upon whether that particular engine had one. My 318 did not and the PCV vent was in the way, so it was on the fender well.

The seat backs have a bit of adjustment. If you loosen the four bolts that hold the back rest on, the bottom bolt holes are slotted and allow you to adjust the angle a little.

I assume you are referring to mine. It was put in by a PO and it just looks like a piece of vinyl fabric that was glued in place. I have no clue what the original headliner would have been made from or looked like or what colour it would have been. It matches my seat at the moment. Probably the same vinyl.

On a separate matter. Did the exterior rear view mirror have a gasket between the mirror and door? When I removed mine there was no gasket and the mirror had gouged nicely into the paint and door.

Thanks. I will have a closer look. I like to lean back when I drive.
