Dash color

I know it's been discussed many times, today I bought a 67 D300. Dash is body color with a black dash pad. I read here that 67 should be satin black over body color. Is there any rhyme or reason to changes? I'm wondering what color I should make my project dash. Btw, it looks real good in color. It's a weird truck push door handles, early tin inner panels, small back window.

That door configuration is how 67's came - new style outer, old style inner. Weird is right, eh?

IDK if this is what you are asking but the best reason for a black dash is to reduce the reflection of it in the windshield. I know of no other functional rationale.

I have a 67 D300 with dash colour same as inside cab colour. Its never been repainted. And it did have the dash pad on it.

I’m not sure if this helps, but the dash in my 65 is red body color.
The engine and the trans are also red.

My '67 D100 has a body colour dash and a satin black dash pad. '67 was the first year for the push door handles.

My '67 W200 Wrecker came with the satin black dash / pad.

Upon further inspection the inside of the trans is also painted red

so i have two 67s
white one has white dash
other one has red interior with a black dash
didn't even think of it till i read this
both have black pad

Any correlation between dash color & steering wheel color? It appears that my white wheeled dash was done in black over the factory blue-green (keep forgetting the proper name for that color!)
