Drip rail sealing

Post by jimharold »

Hello all. My 68 D100 has a leaking drip rail on the drivers side. The new door seals I put in has trapped the water after a rain in the step area. Enough to have an inch of ice if it freezes. Any ideas on a temperary fix until I can afford to paint the truck. I was thinking a thin liquid that could seep into the cracks of the old sealer.

Here is what it looks like.

I think it comes down behind the dash onto the floor under the mat. Then spills over into the step area. Floor was repaired and painted by the previous owner.

Sikaflex 1A is what have used, has lasted 15 yrs w/o issues. Also works on cracked windshield gaskets. Check that area for your leak. Its a common problem area.
Dap CLEAR acyrilic caulk WITH SILICONE works really well too. Easier to remove when that day comes, its water base and easy to use. The colored caulk has less silicone and does not perform like the clear. 100% silicone is not the same and has many features that make it a bad choice.
