Carpet trim
Who was reproducing the carpet trim that goes along the edge of the floor, along the step contour? I'm looking at sound-deadening and carpeting the floor and kick panels of the '68. I'd like to get the repops, or a nice set of originals, if anyone is looking to sell a set?

I just got my Exline trim. Test fit them, spot on. Now I need to paint it.

You're painting the trim? Isn't it stainless?

If you have access to a tig , have someone bend a piece of stainless for you, then cut and make the bend and weld it back together. I have pieces bent up, just haven't cut and welded them yet.

mine are mild steel. I figured painted would look better than rusted steel. Plus the shiney stainless parts would look out of place on my truck.
I was going to make my own, but I don't have the shrink/stretch tool to make the curve in the front.

I think Mark is talking about putting a bajillion slits almost all the way through the angle, forming it, and welding it back up. The trick is shrinkage, in that the curve will tighten as it is welded. If you clamp the in and out straight sections such that they're parallel, you'll probably be OK.

I’m thinking bout ordering some and was thinking of having them powder coated. Would prefer stainless but if not available then these.

My plan is to cut it, bend it to what ever shape it needs, then add filler metal to the open areas. I like working with stainless, until it comes time to polish it, then it sucks. From that pic of the new one, I don't remember the factory one having that much radius on the front side. At least the ones I have don't have that much radius.

That is correct, the factory trim did not wrap around at the front.
