Sweptline bed mounts

Post by joes68340s »

I was quite surprised to find wood as a mount or insulater. I need replacement. Does anyone make a poly mount better than wood. What options are there.

I have not seen any poly mounts. In the past I have bought a piece of dried oak (from a hardwood store) and remade the factory wood mounts.
I see you are over in Rescue... I'm up in Newcastle. You ever make it to Cars and Coffee in Folsom?

I’m still learning the area. I have been there recently in between the storms. Plan to go more.

I think they are white oak. very durable and rot resistant. More so than red oak.

the oak does last many decades. all the big 3 used it probably up into to 70s or 80s.

Jim100 is correct about the superior rot resistance of white oak compared to red oak. Paint if first and you'll be fine.

is that something that absorbs into the wood? or does it dry like clear varnish? asking because it sounds like a possible candidate for utiline bed board treatment.

Nobody was following me with a forklift :joker ... my dad had picked up a pallet or two for a wood project he was working on. I even had him cut the blocks for me! SEE? I still have all 10 fingers to prove it

2 part material, soaks into the wood then hardens, clean up with xylene, expensive, about $200/gal. Ive used many gallons in many different applications.

I went around the use of wood when replacing my bed mounts and used polyethylene. Any plastic supply shop has it as well as blocks of PVC, PC and ABS any of which work fine in this application.
