Hello, Im told by good source , that the hood on 1968 is a one-off. Im looking to confirm if this is true

Any yr will fit on 68-71 w/o fitment problems, but 68-71 will not fit on the earlier yrs. Yes, 68 is one yr only if you want precision.
All models use the same hood, so it is irrelevant whether its a W300, D800 or D100, etc.
