Need help w/window whiskers

Post by 2318PowerWagon »

Hello all im finishing up sublime 70 W200 restoration and im having trouble with the rubber window whiskers i bought. The outside one is fine but the inside one rolls over when we roll the windows down and tears the rubber from the clips. Ive looked at the big resto sites(i bought ours from **NOT ALLOWED**) but id like to find the felt type whisker for inside the window. Anybody know of a delear???

I saw those, are they the felt type??? My problem is the new rubber lipped ones are flipping over as window is rolled down, tearing the rubber from the 5 metal mounting clips. Could you post a close up of yours?

Hello from germany,

I had have the same problem.
I have put some special rubber glue ( i dont know if this is the right word ) between rubber and door.Let it dry over a day and the problem was gone.

I just installed new whiskers last night. I got mine through JCWhitney. Same "Fairchild" part as RockAuto but cheaper and free shipping! besides, RockAuto did not have the door kit in stock.

I ordered a set of the felt lined ones too. Any tips on how to get the window low enough to install?

Easy to do at the rear of the door but not the front where window is in the way.

Thanks.

Bend the tabs out just a little to help catch the hole. Start towards the front making sure they are all lined up before completely pushing them in. A flat screwdriver helps guiding them in.
