Does the serial number always indicate Dodge? If I run my 67 Fargo PW through the vin decoder, it shows Dodge. I am just wondering if there is a definitive way to differentiate whether a truck is a Dodge or a Fargo.

That may be a question for Eric Bannerman. He has written books on VIN decoding for various years of Dodge and Fargo trucks. I supplied him with various VIN tag pics of Canadian trucks and some US built trucks.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the VIN that tells Dodge vs. Fargo. The plate itself is probably enough. Early Canadian built trucks had a different serial number system than US built trucks but those could be either Dodge or Fargo.

Have a look at this thread, I posted some pics in it. Right at the top of the vin plate it says dodge or Fargo
