bench seat covers?

Post by fireguyfire »

The bench seat is shot on my 70 d100.
I seem to remember hearing somewhere (probably here) that Lil red express seat covers work for the d100's.
Does anyone know if that's true?

I would imagine the cost is about the same. The already made have a steep price tag. I had my bench recovered at a cost of $360.00 here in GA. All of the pre-mades are over $300.00 plus you have to handle any frame or padding issues.
Here are a couple of sites to look at.

Don't LRE trucks have buckets or were they optional?

My 70 is a bare bones bench seat truck with rubber floor.
I'm finding lots of re upholster kits for 1972 and onward trucks, but none for 1970 trucks.
Would the 1972 bench seat covers work, or is the bench seat size different after the re design?

Buckets were optional in most trucks of the same era.

Would LRE bench seat covers fit? Are they different than the 72 and later style covers out there for sizing?

The so called LRE bucket seats were used before Little Reds existed. Option in 76 trucks as a buddy of mines grandfather had them in a D200 Reg Cab
Camper Special fully optioned for the year. Black truck with black interior. They were also used in various pickup truck models as an option. I wrecked a 77 D200 with full gauge package and bucket seats 15 years ago. Not positive of first year the buckets with buddy seat were offered in the 72 and up trucks.
My truck is younger than me.

Back to my original question; would a bench seat cover kit for a 72 dodge truck work on my 70, or is there a size difference?
I'm not sure if there is any difference other than style, and the old bench seat vinyl is gone on my truck so I don't have a working template to give to an upholstery shop to have them made.

An upholstery shop should be able to make you some. Take it by and get a quote.
