Cutting 8" out of the actual widebed box

Post by Tiperoo »

Just curious has anyone ever cut 8" out of a long box widebed to make it a short bed widebed? The frame I know has been done but was wondering about the box itself? because it seems like it is hard to find the short bed boxes themselves.. thanks

Late 65 to 72 long wide box needs cutting front and rear. Not sure about 61 to early 65 long wide box.

You'll have to cut out some from in front of the wheels and some behind. You'll also have to make the swept line look right. It is not an easy task.

It's a lot of welding. Charactor line on a sweptline would make it even more work.

This is what I may do to my 63 eventually. Much more dificult with mid 65 up. This makes it a med bed lwb. Looks good to me. Shop that did this is out of the mid west some where. I can find out the name if any one is interested.
