Hood sub-support
Bit of trivia...Just noticed that the hood front sub-support on the '61-'67 is the same for the '68 one year only hood. So you could change a early hood to a '68 or vice versa with the repair panels available from Exline. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Re: Hood sub-support
You are referring to the sides over headlight area that are a bit higher on 67 and earlier. Sure a 68 hood could be changed to reflect the raised sides. I have thought about it myself. Hood on my 66 is a 68 and is totally rust free and correct colour. Would be easier to change my hood in that area than get another hood and completely do colour change and bolt on. And I do have a correct hood for my 66, Problem is its totally painted brown from truck it was removed from.Txas2step wrote:Bit of trivia...Just noticed that the hood front sub-support on the '61-'67 is the same for the '68 one year only hood. Re: Hood sub-support
The bottom edge of the hood was higher in 61-67 to give proper clearance above the headlight rings 65-67 and grill 61-65.

Re: Hood sub-support
I don't have a 4 eye presently but my '66 and '68 have the same sub-support. Only difference is the '68 hood sheet metal drops down in front of the support areas that rise up on the earlier hoods. Thought all the early hoods are the same.PwrWgnDrvr wrote:The bottom edge of the hood was higher in 61-67 to give proper clearance above the headlight rings 65-67 and grill 61-65.

I certainly would not botch a good hood with good front lip, but there are many with rusted lips( i have 2 ). Just stating that those that need repair and are switching from early to mid yrs or vise versa have that option.( Exline's lip replacements are spot on. )

Re: Hood sub-support
Yes, 68 is a one yr only hood. It is basically a 61-67 hood with front lip filled in above the lights. So indeed, if fab'ing in a new front lip, all 61-68 would work.
