Replacement Bench Seat

Post by 727 »

Has anyone used a bench seat out of a newer model truck to replace the original? I picked up a 71 swept line and someone had installed bucket seats in it. I wanted to hit up the local pick a part but wasn't sure what would fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I put a Chevy c-10 bench in my truck. I did have to fabricate mounting brackets.

That's a nice ride. Which year C10 did your seat come from?
I have a '71 SWB sweep line. Currently has a slant 6 three speed manual. Going to put a big block, 4 speed or maybe auto tranny ( still undecided).

If you are not concerned about keeping it original , the 2003-04 dodge ram seats are very comfortable.Takes some modification of the brackets. :2cents

I'm not into keeping it original. I like how yours turned out. Fabrication isn't an issue.
Thanks!

Texas, would buckets from that fit my 67 d100, and how much modification are we taking?

I have a bench seat in good shape, but really want buckets so I can make a center console

It's been about 6 years since I did the seats in my '68 ute.. Sold the truck several yrs ago and I don't remember exactly what I did. The seats and the center are independent. I used angle and cut some of the existing base off the seats. Those pictured are from another member. :Thumbsup

I lucked up and found a local guy with a mopar salvage yard. I pulled a bench seat from one of his trucks but it needs to be recovered. Is there anyone like Yearone that makes replacement seat covers for the original seat frames?

Might check with a local upholstery shop for a quote. Original style fabrics/vinyl still available. You will get a better fit and they can re-build the foam. :Thumbsup
BTW, my son pitched for Southern Miss. back in 1999. Love Hattiesburg.

Thanks for the advice Txas2step. H'burg is a nice town but we don't have Papadeaux or Papasitos like you do!
