Bumper Questions

Post by Danpd69 »

Hi guys and gals,

Currently in the process of buy a 69 W100, and unfortunately its front bumper (chrome) has seen better days. It doesn't look like there are many aftermarket suppliers for replacements, and I'm not seeing a lot of decent used pieces for sale either. So, I have a couple of stupid questions.

Has anybody used a later model Ram (72-80 or 81-early 90's) front bumper on their trucks? If so, how did it turn out?

I'm kicking around putting a winch on it, but I don't want a massive front bumper. One of the reasons I like the new PW's is because of the hidden winch. Anybody have something like this mounted on their rigs?

Any other suggestions for a decent replacement?

Thanks for your help!

Quite a few people have used a Ford bumper from the 60s-77. It looks very similar to the bumper you have now.

The pre-1986 Dodge pickup front bumpers work well. I'm fairly sure the later brackets will work, but with new holes being drilled in the brackets where it meets the frame. There was a local truck around here a few years ago that had a 1983 D150 front on it, and it looked pretty decent.

Does anybody have a picture of their truck using the Ford front bumper? I was looking at the bumper on LMC's website and it looks pretty nice. Hoping somebody has one mounted that I can see before I pull the trigger!

The 70's Dodge front bumper doesn't look too bad either....
