Trying to find out a few things about our 65 D100 paint.

1) what is a "close" rattle can match for the interior? for when we redo the kickpanels and touch up - we dont' want to repaint the entire interior
2) what is the exterior color? I don't see a paint code - it looks like an off whitel
3) could the interior and exterior be the same paint?
4) asked in another thread...but how close is the OEM yellow engine to duplicolor or plasticote yellow?

Here is a pict of the engine bay, data plate and interior. Exterior was reshot in a creme primer.....no orig.

thanks

1 rattle can scratches easily. Mix some single stage
2 Looks like dodge truck white. Chrysler DT1263 or Ditzler PPG
3 Yes Usually is.
4 The yellows I have looked at were too bright. The original was pale and there are some pictures around. I used Dupli-color Daytona yellow, see my build thread. If I do it again I'll use single stage, I've seen where it holds up good even on an engine.

I looked on a paint chip site.

according to the "words"...1965 Dodge Truck color DT1263 is a valid color code. Then the Ditzler chip code on the "Dodge Truck" says "Sand Dune White 8358" as Ditzler PPG. are they the same?

Not the same color and look at truck colors not cars. Sand dune white on bumpers and wheels, at least on a 64. DT1280 in my build thread. It is a not a bright white, more like an antique white. Your truck is defiantly not sand dune.

1965 Dodge truck white is DT1263 or PPG 8358 or Sherwin Williams 1188. 1964 Sand Dune is PPG 80624 or Chrysler DT1280.

One of the more experienced guys will chime in but, 61-64 Body color was Sand dune and 65-71 was Dodge truck white. A buddy of mine has a 66 and is original paint, it is dodge truck white.

The truck isn't a bright white, seems to have a bit of a greyish tint to it. maybe its just the age.

Its a 1965 series 1, so its the early year.

I may just leave all the cab paint alone, and where we patch the kickpanels, prevail it with single stage.

Sand Dune White, also called Chilean Beige on even older trucks, is also known as old Cub Cadet Beige. Light tan, not white by any stretch of the imagination.

Looks like the tan on my 49. Look in build threads, on wife's piece of crap I-phone, nothing is working tonight.

make sure your truck wasnt re-painted. Take off something that has original paint under it. My early 65 swept was painted Sand Dune from the factory. I didnt know this until I started removing bolts underneath the hood. Sand dune is a neat color, creamy antique white.

My bet it is Sand Dune white. Any auto paint store can match it with the code. :2cents
