Hello everyone. I have a 1970 W200 and the front cab mounts are rusted thru. I do not have pictures of it but I know I will need to do some floor patching and try to get new body mounts to work for the application. My questions are, how hard is it to remove the old cab?
Since I will be removing it and have noticed some questionable wiring would it be worth it to try and find a new wiring harness/kit and run new wires?
Would you suggest this undertaking/project to someone who has never done any type of body work?

I really love my old sweptline and my ultimate goal is to get it back into a daily driver status. I like the simple wiring it has and have had to rewire the back end which I accomplished with no major problems.
I'm just a little concerned about the power block on the fire wall and how accurate the wiring diagram is in my big red service manual. Or if anyone is in northwest montana, North Idaho, Northeast Washington and would be willing to help I would be more than happy to come to you haha. I'm a high school shop teacher and do not have room in my shop for my own personal projects sadly.

If you haven't looked a my post on electrical stuff yet, read through this:

The electrical stuff I'd be happy to help you with. Bodywork is not my forte, but you'll find lots of info on here ( and Jims restoration CD is worth getting, see the left side of the home page). Removing the cab is not too bad - remove 4 floor bolts, steering connection (column recommended), brake/clutch/gas pedal connections, and wires... Then unbolt fenders, hood and hood springs, and finally the fuel tank line under passenger side of cab.
