ute frame swb vs swept swb frame

i have searched and didn't find the answer.

Are the later the SWB Ute 4x2 frames the same as the later swept SWB 4x2 frames of the same years?? i am going to convert my 68 LWB 4x2 to a SWB and trying to determine my options.

Same frame. Hard part is finding good cross sills. Bed goes on sills and 4-6 bed bolts go through bed wood and sills and frame rail. Bruce Horkey and Mar-k have diagrams and bed parts.

Has anyone convert their lwb to swb? I could swear i read a thread a while ago about having to cut some of the frame out of the middle of the frame and some off the back of the frame. I am not having any luck finding it though.

Have set 40s beds on 70s frames, have set 80s beds on my 49s frame. There is enough room built into 53-85 (same bed from 56-85) fenders that you can custom set your wheelbase. 48-52 have no space to spare, yet the bed from my 49 dropped right onto a 70 short bed chassis.

There are NO definites with older Dodge trucks. My 1971 M400 chassis runs factory installed parts from 67 (engine and transmission), 68 steering wheel, 69 up Adventurer short gauge housing, mid 60s car heat/air controls, 67 Ford headlight switch, 40s headlights, 61-64 parking lights...

If you are going from any year sweptline long bed to any year short utiline,yes,you need to remove frame from middle and rear. Even going from short swept to short ute you need to clip a few inches from the rear of the frame.
I sold all of my sweptline trucks,except the invisible one. I just couldn't stand to see it go!

128" LWB to 114" SWB, cut 14" out of the center.
Set bed on frame, look where the end of the bed is, cut off however much protrudes past the last cross rail of the bed.
As they say, dammit, I cut it off 3x and its still too short! :pale
