Attaching trim

Looking at old pictures of my truck, I realized that the trim is not as close to the body line as I'd like. How do you recommend I go about moving it? Use trim tape or something along that line?

I'm guessing by the wording of your post that the trim has been removed from the truck already. You will see that most of it is attached with little studs on the sheetmetal and plastic clips. If all your body mounts are good and the trim doesn't line up that means it probably never lined up from the factory. If it did at one time your body mounts probably need attention.

The little plastic trim clips are hard to find so if you wanted to attach the trim a different way the tape would probably work. All modern stuff is attached that way and seems to stay in place.

Okay! Sorry about that, the truck is completely scrapped as of now and the body mounts are perfect! Its not that the trim didn't line up, it slowly tilted down toward the back. Also, the clips are all dry rotted and some are broke anyway

IF I remember right... the holes are a bit bigger than the screw part on the clip. This will allow some adjustment. Make sure that you have all the nuts started, and then align the molding while you tighten it at the one end, then align the other end, and then tighten that nut. Then when you are happy with the way it lines up, tighten the rest of the nuts.

You may will new "T-Bolts" to replace the "rotted" ones. SEE PHOTO

Jim, my trim didn't have the spring style clips, thanks though!

Sorry about that... those were used on the rear section of the hood and cowl panel I believe. NOT the rear 1/4 panels.

No worries. I forgot to mention my truck is a 69! Sorry for the confusion! My mind is shot lately!

The trim attached differently on mid 65-68 trucks than 69-71 trucks. I never looked closely at the 61-early 65 trim to see how it is attached.

I knew the year of truck in question by looking at the avatar photo.
