Post by wally426ci »

Which product has anyone used on the drip rail caulk? I think this will be my next project as mine leaks and I'd like to repaint the roof. :thinking

Use either Drip Check Sealer OR Brushable Seam Sealer. See links below. I used the Brushable Seam sealer on my truck because I used it also to seal the edges on the new floors I made. WORKS GREAT! Basically, both are the same thing. Use those metal "acid brushes" to "BRUSH" it.

I'd use seam sealer too. If you do end up using it make sure you get urethane seam sealer. It's not suppose to shrink and crack like traditional seam seal can eventually.

Eastwood sells a self leveling seam sealer that is a two part urethane in a calking tube. It comes out like pancake syrup and flows into, under and around and then levels out smooth and flat. The truck must be level and you need to make a masking tape dam where the drip rail starts to slope down on the back side. I sand blasted my rail, did the POR-15 treatment and then used their seam sealer. Worked great. I then used the rest of the tube in my caul area seam after cleaning as good as possible and using POR-15 cleaner and metal prep. Could not really blast in there.
