heater box

I have a 68 Adventurer. Here's my question. I removed the heater box assembly from the truck and there was a cable that ran inside but it wasn't attached to anything and there doesn't appear to be anything to attach it to. Any help would be appreciated.

Goes to the heater control valve. Here is one. I modified a new valve from napa w/ short tubes.

I installed the heater valve from NAPA also; the part# is T BK 660-1140.
