factory jack for a 1969 D100

Post by coelcanth »

anyone know what the factory jack would be like for a '69 D100 ?
also, where would the jacking points be ?

i picked up an old tripod type bumper jack at the flea market but i'm not sure it's the best fit

I'm not 100% sure, but I "think" that the '69 jack was under the hood. Check to see if you have a piece of metal next to the gas tank on the passenger side. The jack would go there. The "crank" goes under the seat. OR... if you have the larger gas tank in '69, the jack would go under the hood on the passenger side fender. Either way, they all used these same jacks. SEE PHOTOS

That style of jack has been used by all of the big three.

Check your left inner fender for the holes for the mounting
bolts. :2cents I'm not sure if this change was a '69 or a '70 change.
I might have a set of '69 fenders I could look at if need be. :idea

Yep I've always wondered what those two square holes were for on the fender...

Now where do I find one of these setups and all the parts and brackets to go with it ???

I used the jack, crank, tire iron, and clamps from my 86 Ramcharger when I parted it out.

I bet any PU/RC up to 1993? uses the same setup.

My 69 has the jack next to the tank. My friend Mike has a 70 shorty with the jack next to the tank from the factory as well. Mike probably has an early production built with a left over cab.

If your cab is set up for next to the tank, keep your jack there. Clean fender tops make for easier engine servicing with fewer steps. Even at 6'2" I prefer to sit on the fender tops to work on my engine. Really hate rear mount dizzys. Need to do my 413/727 swap soon, or stab in the 390/C6... Don't particularly want to run a Ford engine, but the 318 has to go...
If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.

1949 Dodge B1B-108; 1969 D100-128; 72 Super Beetle; and a bunch of others...
