to chrome or not to chrome
to chrome or not to chrome
Im thinking about chroming the front bumper of my 65 D-100 The front and rear bumper are painted the same color of the truck as of now. She has a great grill and two new pie plates. I also just installed the window vent shades. (not shown) The bumper is prefectly stratight but I am undecided how it would look. . I am worried about the truck having to much bling. I tried to use the paint program to color in the bumber but it does not have a chrome color to fill the bumper in with.
Thought I would put it up for a vote

CHROME!!! You can never have to much. And ditch the crazy wrap around rear bumper. Something more sleek and cleen. It throws the body lines off.
Re: to chrome or not to chrome
I think a chrome front bumper would go good with the other
shiny stuff you have on the truck already. That's
one really nice truck you have.

Re: to chrome or not to chrome
if i had money falling out of my pockets with nothing to do with.... well then maybe i would chrome, but i think your truck looks great as is!
I have the same rear bumper and i like it ok, the light duty ones do make it look pretty clean though... if you remove it you have to deal with the holes left in the bed on either side where the wrap around part mounts.

Chrome, it's not that expensive and looks so much better than white painted.

Would you leave the rear bumper painted body color? If you chrome the front and don't chrome the rear you could paint the rear Silver.

Re: to chrome or not to chrome
Just be careful on the chrome job. A cheap chrome will show and will not last. The modern chrome is very cheap as compaired to original and can peel. The shop I got a price at offered two different levels and the prices were quite different.

I'm sorry but I'm old school. Chrome is for show cars. You have a nice truck! Mike

If you chrome it and drive it around and hit something then you have to rechrome it, if its painted and you hit something all you have to do is repaint I like the way the truck looks now

Re: to chrome or not to chrome
Well it looks like about 4 to chrome and 5 not to chrome. The idea of bumping into somthing and damagaing the chrome plus the show car comment have convinced me not to chrome it. I will just have to consider the truck as finished....... rats.......
Thanks for all the imput and comments....

Re: to chrome or not to chrome
What ever you do, IMO both bumpers should be the same finish. Some red wheels with chrome hubcaps/trim rings would add some pizazz, too.
Nice truck!
