Has anyone else seen this option?

Post by SEAnthony »

You can see the front bumper guard on the parts truck. The other picture is with the guards off. I am not sure, if you see how the contour of the bumper guards fit. They are a perfect match with the front bumper. Both guards are solid and weight 7-8 lbs. Has anyone seen/have this option?

Interesting. I haven't seen that particular guard before. Was
the brush guard in the second pic on that truck too?

Did they bolt on using the original holes? I've never seen others any like them. They look to be well made and sturdy but I'd say that they were homemade and not a factory or dealer option.

The item in the second photo is a seat frame.

Yes, that is the seat frame in the second picture. The bumper guards do use the same bolts as the front bumper. I know they are not a factory or dealer option, I think they would have to be an after market item. The only marking I found on them is the letter "D" on back side of both.

Let me give a little history of the truck. In 1972, a mechanic at the Athens, GA Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealership purchased a new lifestyle truck. He owed it for about 8 months and didn't care for the new design. He traded it in on a 1971 Adventure SE that was on the lot. What I think is that the mechanic, who had access to after market items, put the guards on the truck. I am curious if anyone else has come across this style of bumper guards.

Never seen any like that. Could they have had some kind of covering on them that was removed? Here is an Adventurer SE with bumper guards but they don't look like these. http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/cto/1249680230.html
