Do you own Jim MeGee's restoration CD yet? He describes the product he used onwally426ci wrote:Im trying to figure out what the correct appearence should be for the roof of my 68. Im just wondering what the texture is. I may just spray bomb it until i "restore" it properly

Re: Vinyl Roof Paint...... whats the texture?
The stuff I used on my roof matches perfectly with the original "vinyl" top. It is a spay on Stone Chip/gravel guard found at a local auto parts store. Comes in a spray can. The stuff I used I cannot remember the name of it, but do a "test" panel to see how many coats you want to get that original look. My roof had a dent in it, so I had to repair that, and then, match the original textured roof. Dodge used a similar type of spray back in 68. It isn't really a "vinyl top". Similar to this, although this looks expensive, but you get the idea of what to use.

Jim,
I just sent you paypal. I had to get the CD. I hope the details at the bottom are clear enough. If you leav anything on the front steps in Baltimore, its apparently like a big Christmas Tree for the neighborhood kids.

Shawn, I mailed it to the Baltimore address. It is a 6X9 bubble envelope. But, only 1/2" thick. Should be OK. Let me know when you get it!

Just was looking at your truck in your avatar, and I see that your moldings are black inside. Did you know that they were also available in white? those were the only 2 colors. You could also get a white roof. SO, you also could have a white roof, and black moldings, black and black, white and white... etc. Just a bit of info...

Try some Rhino Liner. It will keep the noise down as well. Last forever. They can do any color you want.

Re: Vinyl Roof Paint...... whats the texture?
As you can see, my truck has the white inserts, and black roof. Those are the colors it was "born" with. Except my truck was also baby blue when new. The color and wheels are the only things I "changed" to my truck. (That and the engine isn't the original 318, however, the engine did come from a 1970 D-200)
