Trim Clips (1970 D-100)

Post by BosHogg »

Does anyone know where I can find the plastic clips used to mount the
side body trim on my 1970. I bought this truck a year or two ago, and
I'm finally getting serious about getting it done. I just found this site a
few weeks ago, and joined the other day. There is some great information
here, a big help.

Most of the clips broke when the trim came off, and the 4 that are left
probably won't be good enough to put back on. Can I buy these somewhere
aftermarket, or are there other mounting options?

I know Ben found replacements for the early model trim. Might want to check out Restoration specialist. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/

Someone may have already checked with them, but I'd start there.

Here is the link to Ben's post.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I checked with Restoration Specialties, they don't have that particular clip.
The man I spoke with didn't offer me much hope of finding them either.
However, they said that by the end of the year, they expected to be producing
them. I'll have to rig something up, unless someone has another suggestion.

Robin, where in the link do you find side moulding attachments? I looked, but maybe need to to look harder. Jim

if you click on the Chrysler parts then it brings up a page and it has 3 areas of "Trim & Emblems" I would call them for I know the trucks weren't the only ones that used that to attach the trim, and they have A, B, and E body which one has to be the same, the trucks weren't a "one off" run down the assembley line, infact if you have a good autobody shop they have a vendor that will have them also :Thumbsup

Are you needing the clips for the upper trim that follows the accent line, or the wider lower trim.

I went to Restoration Specialties looks like they have the clips for the lower trim on my 70. I haven't attacked the sweptline trim yet, but who knows. Jim

I Need some of each clip. A few upper, a few lower, and some from the front fenders.

The wide lower clips that are held on with a stud are p/n 6002752. You can use metal clips from Restoraion Specialties or a local supply house for the fenders where there is a hole. Another option is to drill holes where the studs are and use metal clips for all of the trim. I've never found a p/n for the plastic clips that hold the upper trim on or the lower clips that have a plastic stud that is used on the fenders.

The two main suppliers of trim clips are AuVeCo and Carpac, Check with your body shop suppliers. They have lots of universal clip options available. I remember reading in an earlier post that one member used the double sided emblem tape. Makes sense to me, and cheaper too.
