67 front cap on a 68

Post by sweptlinemike »

The hood, grill, front core support? on my 68 is in bad shape. I may be able to work out the hood but the rest is toast. I have access to a 67 front cap which has the pie plates etc. I'm trying to decide if I want to use the 67 front cap. I think the grill is way cooler, but I thought I would get a second or third opinion before I make my decision.

There is some difficulty making the 68 hood fit with the 67 grille. Some have done it and others say it can't be done.

I was planning on using the entire 67 cap on my 68 truck because its in much better shape. I was seeking opinions due to the 67 being somewhat different in appearance..........

Sorry, just saw this! The 68 hood is straight across the bottom while the 67 has an eyebrow to clear the 67 grill. Some have made it work but I prefer the 67 hood with the 67 grill. The rest of the swap is fairly simple. Have fun! Mike

I'm going to use the 67 hood, grill, core support and probably 1 of the fenders. I just wasn't sure if I would be breaking a sweptline law by using the older style grill. I prefer the look of the older grill myself.........

Nope, not breaking any laws. It's your truck, do it like you want. I personally prefer the 68 and up grills but that's just me and I have a feeling that I'm in the minority! LOL Mike

I am a fan of the 69/71 hood, and I've grown to prefer the pie plate grill, and my trucks a 68.....
