Primers?
I know there is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people. But so far I have not been able to find out the differences between epoxy primers and urathane primers or when one should be used over the other. Im gettin ready to start doing some painting on my truck soon so any help would be greatly appriciated.
Re: Primers?
I believe the epoxy is for direct to metal.

Re: Primers?
Do you still have body work to do? and or have you did all the block sanding needed? the primer is also dependant of what paint your going with as far as epoxy and urethane, if you still have body work or block sanding then use a "High build" primer this will help fill in the small imperfections.

Re: Primers?
Yes, and epoxy really sucks to block if you've got more bodywork to do.

Re: Primers?
My understanding is epoxy is for direct to metal as mentioned, and is really just a super durable base
for fillers and sanding primers. It is also an excellent choice if you will be stripping or blasting and
not be getting to the body work and paint for a while. It doesn't draw moisture like normal primer,
which is also why additional primer should be used over it.
Did some looking and also found this:
