Hola Class
I have an 1970 Pick-up and I am starting to think of getting the correct shade of Light Blue. What is the formal shade name and code of this colour ???
When I strole into the local auto paint store, I would like to hand them the directions of how to get to this shade and code of Blue ( as Dodge called it ).

If by paint store who mean a body shop supplier that will custom mix it.
They should have a listing in a catalog with samples on it.Just make sure your looking at the truck chart not the car one.

Another thing to watch for is if your having the color done in base/clear or single stage.
I have had buddies use base/clear and the paint color done not match the orig.Depends on how accurate you want to be and a lot of people won't even notice anyway.
If you have a '70 service manual there are color codes in the body section.

Hola There
I now understand there is an "base/clear" way of painting and an "single stage" way of painting. Why may the "base/clear" have an slightly differant "shade of tint" from the original blue as it was in 1970 ?
Is there an differance of final cost ? Which is better for time ?
What does it say in the 1970 Factory Service Manual about the Light Blue ( I'll add this manual to my getting long Christmas List ) ?

I think Norm has the color chips in his Image Event on the dodgesweptline.org site.
If not there maybe it was in Chris's old site.

The shades could vary because some of the chemicals used in certain colors may not be available anymore.Rodger wrote:Hola There

I would vote for base/clear to last longer.A single stage can be long lasting as well, depends on the enviroment it's in.Left dirty, bird crap, etc will destroy any paint.
I have a '69 manual otherwise I would have posted the code for you.
Tried finding a '70 truck chart online but no luck yet.
