Here is a interesting post I found on doing a paint job with rustoleum (they call it Tremclad though). Thought it would be cool to share. I dont know if I would want to do it though. It almost seems easier to spray it on. They talk about how you paint it using a roll on method. I guess for $50 what do you have to lose?

There are guys on here that have done that already with excellent results. I have painted some stuff with it too, and it is holding up nicely. Going to paitn a whole truck candy apple red this winter, along with some other things I need done, I am 100 percent satisfied with the paint.
I painted this neon this spring and it is still looking good, and I only used a gallon for the whole car, 23 dollars it came up too. No oversparay, that was nice. It covers really good too.

Get it on good and Rustoleum can hold up well.
I would never roll it myself. I have read several
accounts of people doing it, and that is just too
much wet sanding! Cheap HLVP sprayers are easy
enough to find and use. My Crew Cab was painted
with a $60 gun. And the wheels were sprayed 2 yrs
ago with satin black Rustoleum and a $20 gun.
They still look great.

I plan on doing this also. That thread is years old and still going. There are 3 parts to it if you didn't see that already.

that is a good way to paint, just too much work and it take way too long, (you can spray a truck in 1 day and be done, with all the sanding & drying time with the rollon it takes weeks) but many have done it and it looks fine and it is an alternative :salut

Oh, those were the days...

I used to do cheap paint jobs with Sherwin-Williams industrial enamel...At one time, I had two trucks both painted safety blue, my 62 Town Wagon and 90 Chevy conversion van with 1 ton axles and suspension. The both had black bumpers and grills with horizontal chrome bars.

however, go to Tractor Supply and get the implement paint, with hardener. That is tough stuff.

On the other hand, the black body and white top on the 68 Utiline, using the 99 cents per can Walmart rattle is holding up pretty good.

That TSCX paint turns chalky after a year or so, no thanks. I painted a race car with that crap once, took forever to dry, rustoleum for me.
