Accelerator rod boot

Post by CLIFF »

Is anyone remaking these? Ive searched all over internet "havnt called anyone yet" with no luck to a listing for 61-71? not sure what years are the same rod assembly? I have a 67 d100. Ive tried making my own but i havnt fugured it out yet. Or gotton one to work. Its agrivating having a 2 inch hole in the firewall letting in fumes and such!

Great question. I've looked off and on for the last few years and haven't found anything.

MIGHT try looking at electrical grommets with 2" dia and smaller [1/4"?] inner.
They come with variable 'lips' that should fit the tin on the firewall and be fairly fume and water tight.

Ok, hang an "I am with stupid sign" on me, but what are you talking about???
Do the older trucks not have a cable operated accelerator?

Nope. '69 and earlier use a rod. The '69 has a hanging pedal w/rod while '68 and back bolt to the floor. I have a '69 hanging setup in mine.

Interesting, so the 70-71 uses the modern cable setup.
I was really excited when I found out that the cable from the
94 Magnum engine I am using will snap right into the hole in
the firewall on my 70, with no mods at all. Guess I got lucky
by one year on that one! Thanks for educating me!
I will go away now.
